Note:The files in and under this directory are managed by a Hierarchical Storage Manager (DMF of course) and may be tape-resident when not accessed for a while. If your browser hangs while trying to look at such a file, it is probably waiting for the data to be recalled to disk. This process is automatic, but may take minutes or even an hour or so. Just sit tight and wait. Alternatively, try again in, say, half an hour. About DMFUGThe DMF Users Group was started in 2009 to provide a forum for sites using HPE's Data Management Framework (formerly SGI's Data Migration Facility) HSM software to provide assistance and encouragement to each other, and to provide feedback to HPE.While we are grateful for the encouragement and support provided by HPE and associated vendors, DMFUG is independent of those companies and operates using facilities provided by its members' employers. However, staff of HPE and associated companies are welcome to join as well. These facilities include a (low volume) mailing list with around 110 subscribers, this web-site, and face-to-face meetings which are held on a member's premises approximately once a year. So far, these meetings have all taken place in various locations in Australia, but we'd be happy to work with anyone who wants to do something similar in other geographies. These meetings provide a level of informal ongoing DMF training, even for the more experienced attendees.
Mailing ListTo join the list, HPE customers using DMF and HPE staff should email dmfug-request©lists·csiro·au with the word "subscribe" as either the subject or the text of the mail. Alternatively, you can fill out the membership request form at https://lists.csiro.au/mailman/listinfo/dmfug/Please don't use anonymous email addresses like those from Gmail and Hotmail; we would prefer you to use your work address if at all possible. Archives of previous postings can be found at https://lists.csiro.au/mailman/private/dmfug/
Meetings2021On 24th June (US time), HPE provided a 90 minute briefing to members on DMF7 status, futures and migrations via MS Teams. This was done twice, once at a Europe-friendly time and again at one more suited for the Asia-Pacific time zones. Americas-based members joined at the start or end of their working day, whichever was more convenient. Both recordings are available to DMF customers and partners from an FTP site. Please contact Sergey Shlepakov (sergey·shlepakov©hpe·com) if you need the password.
2020No meeting was held in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.2019The last face-to-face meeting took place at the Pawsey Supercomputing Centre in Perth on 29 - 30 August 2019, attended by:
