Notes:
  • The next DMF User Meeting is to be on
Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd February 2011 at
Monash University Clayton Campus, Victoria, Australia. (Campus map) (Campus map marked up for DMFUG)
    Room G19
Science Technology Research and Innovation Precinct (STRIP) building, (building 75)
    (Floor-plan of facilities)
This is on the western side of the campus and is the same building as the Monash eResearch Centre.
You can see a video of the building, including the Café, here and here.

  • Lunch and coffee are self-funded - the Cinque Lire Café is conveniently located across the atrium from the meeting room. They sell some really nice spicy sausage rolls, quiche, pasta, pizza. If you wish, you can pre-order via http://www.monash.edu.au/strip/tenants/service/catering.html

  • The SGI-sponsored dinner is almost booked out; new RSVP's may be wait-listed in case of cancellations by someone else.
    Pierre's Oyster Seafood Restaurant
    51 Centreway Pinewood Shopping Centre
    Mount Waverley VIC 3149
    T: (03) 9803 4355
    F: (03) 9803 4744
    E: [email protected]
    W: www.oyster.com.au
  • Australian Synchrotron is adjacent to the University campus but on the far side; we will be car-pooling to get there, leaving the Uni 15 minutes prior to the 13:00 start.

  • 3D-ALIVE and the Monash Data Centre are on campus in the same building. We will be breaking into groups of 5 for the tours which will be done concurrently, to allow greatest exposure to the full immersion environment.

  • Car parking permits are not required at this time of year because it's Orientation Week, which is a busy time for cars on campus. Blue zones (in the multi-story carpark and near the round-a-bout, at the north-west of the campus) will be free for all and sundry. The White zones (at the North end of the building) require coinage every few hours.

Brown, Red and Green are reserved and will attract a fine!

  • Attendees with Eduroam accounts should be able to use them to gain wifi Internet access.
There is also a guest wireless service for those without Eduroam: http://www.its.monash.edu.au/wireless/
